ABSTRACT
A lot of students are graduating every year from our institutions and stay without jobs. The study was geared towards examining the awareness and utilization of government programmes on unemployment by youth in Nigeria with a particular reference to Nsukka Local Government Area, of Enugu state. The study also employed the cross sectional survey research design. A sample size of 300 respondents was chosen for the study. The instrument for collecting data was the questionnaire. Three hundred questionnaires were distributed to the respondent. The hypotheses formulated in the study were tested using the chi-square(X2). The questionnaires were analyzed using the SPSS percentages. The findings from the study revealed that-: 1. Youth with higher level tend to be more knowledgeable about government unemployment programmes than those with lower level of education. 2. The male gender does have more access to government unemployment programmes than the female youth. 3. Youth who have benefited from the government unemployment programmes sees it more beneficial than those who have not.
